Left my job & embracing curls
Last week I posted a video on Facebook about leaving my job and embracing my curls. Yes, this is exactly what I would do if today was my last. I would stop wasting time with hair straightner's and embrace my curly frizz!
I also walked away from my well paid, steady income, in pursuit of what I really want to do. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy my work and the company I work for, it is a great place to be. However, I feel like I am in a season of purpose and I must pursue my passions and do what I really want to do before it it is too late.
There are certainly no guarantees on the road ahead for me but I am getting on and doing it anyway. Entering the unknown, a new path, one I have never walked before. I am sure there will be some potholes and diversions along the way. But, I am undeterred regardless of success or failure.
I often speak to people who express they would love to do something different, to explore a passion or dream and my question always is - What is stopping you?Believe me I have heard all the excuses and I have also been guilty of making the same excuses myself.
Excuses often have the same undertone and are connected to fear. Fear of failure, fear of not having enough, fear of success, fear of letting others down, fear of not being able to provide for your family and other good, valid reasons not to step out and give it a go!
But the moment is now and we must not allow our fear to disable us, to keep us stuck or unfulfilled. It is time for me to step out regardless of my fear. There will always be valid reasons not to act now, but these are excuses and are stopping us from doing the things we really want to do.
I believe we each have a unique talent and we are created for greatness and purpose. If you are not living aligned to your destiny, then life will always seems like a struggle or a chore, something we have to do, rather than choose to do.
Don't get me wrong. It is not always exciting and the journey that leads you to the path of authenticity is not necessarily always easy, but there is a deep fulfillment and great rewards to following your own truth. There is also something very powerful about letting go and trusting that things will work out in your favour.
What would you do different?
If today was your last what would you different? I am sure you would not waste too much time worrying about what other people think and suddenly become more courageous. Your focus would shift dramatically and your rigid old inflexible skin would immediately disappear and you would be ready to expand your horizons and take new territory.
So, what is stopping us living everyday like it is our last? By the way this is not an excuse to live wrecklessly, but we do need to try new things and take positive risks to do life differently, stop being accustomed to our old habits and ways. We need to live life without regrets!
At first it may not seem right and we will not feel comfortable. But we can develop a taste for this. We can train ourselves to develop new behaviours. Ask any marathon runner, they never run the full 26 miles in the first training session. It takes time and practice to run a marathon and we need time to transition, it is not immediate.
We must first have a vision, a thought in our minds before we can move towards our goals. Often what we need is already around us. It is happening already, but we just need to shift our focus to see it and then find a new structure that will take you closer to this. If you are not looking for the new thing, then it is hard to see it!
Watch out this month for NEW things about to emerge. May is the month of miracles.
